Coupon Code and My First Giveaway!

ETA: The contest is over! Thanks for all who entered and good luck! Winners, expect an email from me no later than Sunday.

Alrighty. So while I was away with the technical difficulties, Cortney from Shop Translated emailed me to ask if I’d be doing a Cyber Monday post, and if so, here, take a coupon code for your readers!

Y’all, I’d intended on doing a Cyber Monday post, and getting an extra coupon code just for y’all? All over it!

Except I got the email too late for Cyber Monday. But, Cortney is really sweet and has extended the coupon code till January 1, 2010. Enter in “hydeandseek25” (minus the quotes) at checkout to save an extra 25% off your purchase. Naturally, I’ve already scoped out the dress I want. It’s this lovely number from the INES line:

I'm all over the purple this season, folks.

Now, it is cold up here. Cold. As in, it SNOWED up here, cold. And all I want is a sleeveless dress. Only me. I’ll probably pair it with a cardigan, belt, tights, and some flats or boots so I don’t freeze to death.

Now, if y’all like that dress up there, y’all should enter to win it! Or any other piece on the site. That’s right folks: The first Hyde and Seek giveaway! Cortney has two pieces avaliable for y’all to win. Which ones? That’s the beauty: you get to pick! The only stipulation: it cannot be from the new arrivals. But anything else is up for grabs.

Here are the rules: to enter, all you need to do is leave a comment on this post that answers this question: “What is your favorite piece, or type, of clothing?” Here, I’ll get y’all started:

I have a thing about pajamas. Since I was a little girl, I’ve always loved them. From the little feety pajamas to night gowns and everything in between, I love pajamas. Last weekend, when I managed to save a ton of money on a winter coat, I stuck my head into Lane Bryant during their 40% off sale to see what I could see. I could have used some jeans and work clothes and some going out clothes…nope. Gravitated towards pajamas, which I have not bought for some time. So after some deliberation, I chose a purple plaid chemise and these:

All the better to watch James Bond in!

I am such a huge James Bond fan (and yes, I prefer my martinis shaken and not stirred), it just made sense for me to get these. Love them!

So, what about y’all? Tell me about your favorite piece or type of clothing, and be entered to win! You have until midnight (eastern standard time) on Friday, December 11 to get your comment in. I’ll use a random number generator to pick the two winners; they’ll be notified on Saturday. Please, please, please make sure you leave a valid email address with your comment, because that’s how I’ll contact you to get your information should you win.

Good luck and happy shopping!

I got the same LB PJs during the sale, but added the long pants for the winter pairing.

Eliz: That dress was a close second on my list of things I’d like to buy. It’s really pretty.

JoJo: I’m getting the pants next paycheck. And the t-shirt that matches it. Folks are gonna think I’m a lush. I’m ok with that. 🙂

Favorite type of clothing? Anything in purple. I gravitate to purple like iron filings to magnets. I don’t care if purple is in or out, I wear it. I love it and look good in almost (but not quite!) every shade.

If I have to get more specific, it’s purple cable knit sweaters. I have *cough* a lot of them, to the point where I had to say absolutely no more this year.

Until yesterday, when I realized one of them has shrunk significantly. I used to have to cuff the sleeves, now they’re the right length, maybe even a little short. And the joy when I thought of replacing it…it’s completely silly. But I saw one in the Lands’ End catalog, and I may have a gift card coming….

(I left a valid email in the comment, is that enough?)

i love square-neck tops with 3/4 or full sleeves, usually in black. i had a millionty of them, then gained 3 sizes and couldn’t find any, then found a few! then a few more! have mostly black, but also brown and purple and red… if i had to choose one top to wear for the rest of my life, in all seasons, it would be a 3/4 sleeve black cotton square neck top.

left my email in the thingy–am glad you do it like that instead of having us type it out, i’ve done that and always get more spam after.

I really love tops that are cute and comfy and I think this one looks great:

My favorite type of pieces of clothing are the ever scarce, plain black twill bootcut pants that don’t give me camel toe, aren’t so low cut I think my butt is going to fall out and fit.

My favorite piece of clothing would have to be my blue argyle sweater dress. I’d never seen anything like it and I immediately fell in love with it in the store. I’m very hippy and this dress fits perfectly over my hips. I wear it with boots and heels and it looks great on me. I love all of my sweater dresses but this one just sticks out to me.

I love the off the shoulder top – amazing colour and cut. I’d wear it with dark jeans, boots, and a gold clutch. Great for clubbing or date night! I love tops that just scream “touch me”.

I like anything with sleeves! Seriously, I am not a fan of anything that shows my upper arms, so anything that can be sexy or stylish (maybe show some shoulder) or comfortable and flattering are my favorite pieces. I bought a dress last year for our company holiday party that had 3/4 length sleeves, but a cutout shoulder, and a strap to cover my bra strap. It was perfect for someone like me, and it was very flattering!

I love dresses! I am especially obsessed with shirtdresses, I just love the collars and the crispness of the look. I’ve been really inspired by Lesley over at Fatshionista, I’d love to go all-dresses someday like her. 🙂

Oh man, what is my favorite piece of clothing? That’s actually difficult to decide. I’m with you on the pajamas, because they’re cosy and warm and soft and friendly. But then I’m also all about frilly blouses, well-worn blue jeans, fabulous evening gowns, slouchy sweaters, and awesome boots.

In the end, though, I have to go with my personal signiture: hats.

I wear a hat every time I step outside. Okay, every time I’m going further than the trash cans. Still. There are people who’ve known me for years who wouldn’t recognize me without a hat on. I have a collection that ranges from berets to a sequinned flat cap (far more tasteful than it sounds, trust me), to a canvas short topper, to a glorious wide-brimmed ruby velvet hat, to this bizarre and glorious semi-turbanesque number with a peacock feather that got me stopped multiple times on the street in the Castro District by jealous gay clothes horses. Good times, good times.

    Definitely hats.

I am all over turquoise things right now. I am a huge fan of skinny jeans. But I must admit…dresses are starting to sneak their way onto my favorites list…but its COLD. Too cold for all of that. We shall see what happens once spring decides to come around…if it ever comes around again.
